A Reflection on Brother Anthony Opisso
David Moss

Brother Anthony visited with us for a short while in Highland, NY in the mid 90’s. Over the years we exchanged a number of letters and phone calls. But in that brief visit, two hearts met and were joined.

I was in awe of Brother’s desire and ability to reveal Jesus and the truths of our faith in the sacred literature of the Jewish people. I was also impressed with the way he joined with another when he wrote his books. In Brother’s words:

“I learned that if we desire to bear witness to the Truth in Him, we need the help of another because it takes two to bear witness to the Truth. The day came when the two met and agreed before the Lord to pray and to work towards the same goal until the task was accomplished. For the Son of Man shall be revealed before His own when a Man and a son of Man have borne witness to Him, through His knowledge and understanding.”

Brother Anthony was in total and enthusiastic agreement with Fr. Elias’ thesis regarding the place of the People Israel in salvation history and in the Church. He contributed columns for The Hebrew Catholic and wrote our little pamphlet, Born of the Ever Virgin Mary.

With his co-workers and family, I will miss Brother and his gentle love for our Lord and Mary, the Church, scripture and the Jewish people. I look forward to our reunion on the other side.
